Realizing That My Purpose Outweighs My Age and My Personality

First, let's begin by introducing myself. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, cousin, and am now a retiree from my 40+ year career. The list of roles goes on and on. I, however, want to walk in my purpose, which includes writing books. Here's a snippet of how I got here:

I always viewed myself as a behind-the-scenes supporter, because I’m an encourager-at-heart. I never considered writing books or being out front. I found myself, however, sharing wisdom with friends, family, and coworkers. I believe God gave me tips and practical points to help navigate life’s everyday curves and transitions. Since I always kept written notes when ideas “popped in my head,” over time I accumulated several notes on scraps of paper.

Then, it happened! I sensed that God wanted me to write a book and share the wisdom He gave me.  My first, and I thought my only book, was From Mommy to Mentor: Parenting Adult Children, published when I was 59 years old (post procrastination). That tells you that age doesn’t matter to God. Your purpose doesn’t expire. This book meant a lot to me because it was about raising my three children, through ups and downs, successfully to adulthood. Even though their paths were not always a straight line, God helped me navigate from the mommy role (giving directives), to mentoring and coaching them as they matured. I knew that I had to share what I learned to help other mothers struggling with this adjustment.

Going forward, I have accepted that, true to His character, God enlarges the territory He wants us to impact. Therefore, in spite of my naturally quiet personality, God has big plans for me and wants me to use my quiet voice to encourage, influence, and impact for His Kingdom. Acknowledging that quiet voices are powerful, too, led to another book, The Quiet Spirit: Don’t Underestimate Your Power.

My story continues to be written. What about yours?  Whether you’re transitioning to a different role in parenting, struggling to find your voice, or learning to hear God clearly and walk in your purpose, I’m here to encourage you with practical, relatable wisdom words. Pull up a chair and get comfy - I’m so glad you’re here!
